Radiance of the PALENESS

No no! please dont give my post this confused look for my oxymoron title, read on and you will know my reasons for naming it so....

26th april '09,sitting on the cot of my cozy hostel room, I am trying to ready my mind to start studying, hardly anytime left with endsems due next week.Just when i am about to open my "principles of electrical engineering" i notice a black book on my roomie's badly ignored study table(something always has to pop up from somewhere to completely diminish my somehow mustered up courage to study).
Okay so whats this black thing? its a novel and which one?the very famous(atleast among the girls) "TWILIGHT" by stephenie meyer.the adventurous love-story of a vampire and a human girl.
Thats when i met 'Edward Cullen' for the first time......
Edward Cullen-the vampire-the ravishingly beautiful angel with forlorn looks in his hazel eyes, that grave yet musical Mozart voice, taffeta soft hair and an intense persona and charm.I bet no girl,if not floored would find it difficult to relate him with a blood sucking leech(read as vampire).Yes stephenie has done a great job and so beautifully has justified them that vampires are no more the shrivelled, pale, white, ugly, bony, creatures who live in coffins coming out only at nights to hunt but rather are now the most attractive, desirable and sought after guys.I even sympathize with their plight.
But why are people going mad after a pale guy so much??Well, all thanks to Meyer whose shown Edward's pure heart(so what if he has sucked more than 1000 people to death),his true feelings and unselfish love and devotion for an ordinary girl. The "perfect boy" is no more a cliche. Suddenly many of my exhilarated girlfriends want to be the accident prone Isabella Swan(his love interest).
As if these series were'nt enough, that movies were made with Robert Pattinson(Rob) enacting Edward-the center of attraction of the twilight saga. And hats off to him,as his acting prowess, his appearance completely does justice to his character(those who have seen him will definitely agree to how pale and vampirish and "edwardish" he looks)
Suddenly you could easily see Rob's posters almost everywhere. One of my friends immediately replaced all her ranbir kapoor(her true love for a year or so) posters, wallpapers and even passwords pertaining to him with that of Rob P.girls you see(phew!!).Even Rob who was just a not so significant Cederic Diggory in "Harry Potter and Goblet of fire",whose small role in mira nair's film had got chopped off due to its insignificance became a Hollywood hot-shot over a fortnight and what followed were "The most kissable person", "Best dresses star" titles bestowed upon him.thanx to the girls fervently voting for him.
Good for Rob P,as I see he actually has acting prowess in him unlike few A-grade hollywood stars.I admit i too was swayed by this insane wave for a short while during which i read the complete twilight series, but not anymore.
Whatever you say this to be,craziness, fantasy, infatuation etc etc..Edward Cullen(and hence Robert pattinson) continues to remain the "epitome of seduction" for many...
I just hope soon some sense will get into their brains to make them realize how futile is their craziness.Such characters are sketched to relish over while reading the book and not get carried away too far.after all we have to survive in a mortal world..

now you see the radiance of such paleness. dont you??? ;)
